Portrait Licence & Photo Authorisation

Last updated: 8 October 2026

This page explains two separate things: (A) what you allow us to do with the photo you send us, and (B) what you are allowed to do with the portrait we send back. Both matter, so we have kept them short and unambiguous.

Our commitments, in plain language

  • Your photo is used only to create your portrait.
  • Your photo is deleted 30 days after delivery — or immediately if you ask.
  • We never use your photo to train AI models.
  • We never sell, resell or licence your photo or portrait.
  • We never publish your portrait anywhere without your written permission.
  • Every portrait we deliver is labelled as AI-assisted.

A. What you authorise us to do with your photo

When you upload a photo, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to:

This licence ends when your photo is deleted. It does not give us any ownership of your photo, and it does not allow us to use it for any purpose other than your order.

What you confirm when you upload

If you are uploading on behalf of someone else — for example, ordering a memorial portrait as a gift for a friend — you confirm that you have their permission to do so.

B. What you may do with your portrait

You receive a personal-use licence to your finished portrait. Under it you may:

What you may not do without written permission

We grant commercial licences on request, usually for a modest upgrade fee. Email [email protected].

C. Memorial portraits — a specific commitment

Portraits created in a memorial context are handled under a stricter set of rules than our gift-style artwork:

If something we deliver does not meet these commitments, it is covered by the full-refund provision in our Terms & Refund Policy.

D. AI disclosure

All portraits are created with AI image-generation tools and refined by our team before delivery. Every delivered file is labelled as AI-assisted. This is a requirement in several markets and, more importantly, it is the honest thing to do. We do not represent our portraits as hand-painted or hand-drawn.

E. If you believe your rights have been infringed

If you believe a photo or portrait on our service infringes your rights — for example, if someone uploaded a photo that belongs to you — email [email protected] with:

We will remove the material while we investigate, and we will respond within 7 days. We take these reports seriously and act on them promptly.
